My Great American Road Trip (2016)
A view of the highway while heading towards Asheville, NC on the first driving day of my month-long Great American Road Trip in 2016.
The original plan for the trip was just to drive I-40 all the way cross-country to Santa Monica Pier, but I had ended up taking a month off work and hadn’t planned much further…
I intend to build this out as a retrospective story using the Sunlit app and Micro.blog hosting.
I had driven clean across the volunteer state in a dash, as I felt I had “been there and done that” a few other times, especially the drive between Nashville and Memphis, but I still visited Beale Street to get some local flavor before calling it a night.
The next morning, I was eager to get onto new things, by crossing over the Mississippi River and into Arkansas. That day would serve as the first of the trip where I would be in lands I’d never visited before, and the pyramid seemed suitably iconic for that.
